FRUITPORT – The Fruitport boys basketball team notched a 54-43 OK-Silver victory over Kelloggsville on Monday.

“This was much closer to a complete game for us than recent contests,” Fruitport coach Steve Erny said. “Kelloggsville can provide some problems with their pressure and how they attack the rim, and I thought we handled those things well.”

The Trojans led 16-14 after the first quarter and grew their lead to 29-21 by halftime.

The Trojans outscored Kelloggsville 9-5 in the third quarter and maintained their lead.

Dexter Lillmars had 14 points, four assists and three rebounds, while DayDay Williams added 14 points, four rebounds and three assists. Hudson Hazekamp threw in 12 points, eight rebounds and two steals.

“Our third quarter and the start of the fourth quarter was some of the better basketball we’ve played this season with guys moving the ball and finding open teammates,” Erny said. “Good win for our boys as we started a big three-game week.”

Fruitport (13-3 overall, 7-1 OK-Silver) travels to Hopkins on Tuesday for conference play.
