A rough night of shooting spelled doom for the Newaygo Lions’ girls basketball team on Thursday night.
And while the Lions were struggling, Big Rapids was able to make shots and dominate on the boards. The result was a Big Rapids 42-21 victory over Newaygo.
“It was a tough loss for the girls tonight,” said Newaygo coach Nathan Thomasma. “We just didn’t make any shots and Big Rapids did and they really hurt us on the offensive glass. Not the outcome we wanted at all. but we will keep our chins up and get ready for next week.”
Ruby Hughes had eight points and 11 rebounds for the Lions (14-3). Gabby Arney added six points while Lillian Holmes had four points and four rebounds.
Big Rapids improved to 15-2.
