HOWARD CITY – The visiting Newaygo Lions raced out to a double-digit lead in the first half and cruised to a 57-24 victory over the Tri-County Vikings.
“Good team win by the girls tonight,” said Newaygo coach Nate Thomasma. “We had 12 out of our 14 players who played get in the scoring column.”
Naomi Schillman led the way with 15 points. Her total included making five shots from behind the 3-point line. Amaya Lathrop and Kija Schultz each chipped in six points.
“Naomi Schillman has been a consistent and reliable player and leader for the team,” said Thomasma. “We are a balanced and unselfish scoring team. We’ve had five different girls lead us in scoring in different games this year.”
Newaygo (13-2, 7-1) will travel to Holton on Tuesday night. Tri-County drops to 3-12, 1-7.
