The Muskegon Voyagers started the 2025 MIHL playoffs with a win in the semifinal opener at Lakeshore Sports Centre on Saturday.

Falling behind early did not set Muskegon back as it responded with four straight goals enroute to a 5-2 win over the Detroit Warhawks.

Zach Grover tallied a hat trick in the win as he came through with a pair of goals in the final period to lift Muskegon.

The Voyagers fell behind 1-0 in the first period, but Grover put his squad on the board for his first tally of the night.

Luke McCarthy put Muskegon up 2-1 early in the second period and Andrew Taylor scored for a 3-1 lead.

Muskegon opened the third period with another Grover goal for a 4-1 lead.

The Warhawks tried to make it interesting in the final three minutes of the game when it scored its second tally of the night. But Muskegon’s Grover found the net once again to close the door for the win.

The Voyagers return to action Sunday afternoon at Lakeshore Sports Centre when it faces Detroit for Game 2 of the best-of-three semifinal.
