HOWARD CITY – The Grant softball team overpowered Tri County with 25 hits on the evening in a doubleheader sweep on Monday.
The Tigers won 18-1 and 26-6.
Payton Shoemaker gave up just two hits and struck out five batters in the opening game.
Emma Thompson led the offense with three hits, including a triple, three runs and an RBI. Shoemaker added two hits, with a double and a triple, three runs and two RBI, while Addison Herrmann had a double, a triple, two runs and two RBI.
Herrmann earned the win as the pitcher in the nightcap.
Lily Gee had big at-bats with two homers, three runs and five RBI, followed by Alexa Obenauf with two hits, one a home run, and one triple, two runs and seven RBI. Reese Gragg also recorded a homer and two RBI.
Grant hosts Big Rapids on Wednesday.
