NORTON SHORES – The Mona Shores girls’ soccer team was handed its first conference loss in nearly nine years on Tuesday evening.

The Sailors were overpowered by Byron Center 6-1 in OK-Green play.

Katie Phillips scored the lone Sailors’ goal off an assist from Ella Kinney.

Addison Fisher, Olivia Naylor, Ava Freye and Amelia Coffin gave great all-around effort.

Mona Shores (3-2 overall, 0-1 OK-Green) hosts cross-town rival Reeths-Puffer for the Van Andel Institute Causeway Classic game on Thursday.
