MUSKEGON – After trading leads throughout the game, the Reeths-Puffer baseball team came away with a 5-2 win over Oakridge on Tuesday.

The Eagles led 1-0 in the top of the second until the Rockets’ Brendan Guikema doubled for a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning.

The Eagles scored a run in the top of the sixth to tie it up, but the Rockets quickly answered as Holden Earnest singled and Guikema hit a sacrifice fly.

Jack Yonkman got the start on the mound and gave up two hits, three walks. He struck out seven. Drew Brooks allowed one hit, one run and struck out three batters to close the game.

The Eagles’ pitcher Dillon Cunningham took the loss.

Guikema led the Rockets’ offense with three runs, while Yonkman recorded two runs. Brayden Mitchelson and Earnest each had a hit and a run, while Cade Paugh added a hit.

Michael Wambaugh had a double and scored a run for the Eagles, while Zac Cribbins and Ethan Miller each had a single.

Reeths-Puffer hosts Spring Lake on Wednesday.

Oakridge will visit Fremont on Thursday, April 15, for WMC-Lakes play.
