The Muskegon Community College women’s soccer team battled to a 1-all tie with Grand Valley State University on Wednesday.
Grand Valley scored its goal at the 40-minute mark of the opening half, in which Jayhawk goalkeeper Chelsea Thiele made three saves.
MCC got on the board off a corner kick in the second half. Allison Mahn sent the kick to the front of the goal, where Autumn Brodeur scored on a header.
Ashlee Taylor had four saves in the second half for MCC. That included a key save in the game’s final minute that preserved the tie for MCC.
“The ladies played a passionate second half and scored at the 24-minute mark,” Coach Josh Watson said. “The tie was well deserved for both teams. Every game, the team is improving and coming together.”
