On a night when the defense wasn’t at its best, the Whitehall Vikings’ offense carried the load in a 63-46 victory over rival Montague.
Montague was able to take an early lead, but that’s when the Vikings’ offense kicked in.
“Whitehall refocused and set their offensive pace moving the ball around and being patient for an open shot,” Whitehall coach Rachel Kent said. “Whitehall did struggle defensively tonight not moving their feet and reaching for the ball which lead to many team fouls, but were still able to hold off Montague.”
Jenna Pesch led Whitehall with 22 points, including four 3-pointers. Emily MacArthur added 16 points and six rebounds. Bailey Seeger had eight rebounds and four assists.
Morgan Shugars led Montague with 13 points and five steals. Nicole Rumsey added 10 points and four steals.
“These last few games Whitehall has played with some intensity which will hopefully transfer into districts,” Kent said.
