Whitehall rebounded from a halftime deficit to earn a 61-52 win over visiting Montague on Friday night in a West Michigan Conference game.

The Vikings trailed 28-27 at halftime, but outscored the Wildcats 34-24 in the second half.

“We competed,” Whitehall coach Nate Aardema said. “It boils down to that one word. To hold Montague to 52 points was about fighting for every possession.”

Davontae Vance led Whitehall with 13 points and Matt Russell and Issac Love scored 12 each.

Luke VanBoxel led the Wildcats with 18 points and Brandon Moore added 15.

“The seniors stepped up for Whitehall,” Aardema said. “It’s just a great win for our seniors. Battling and battling and working to improve. It’s been all the guys buying in all season, improving.”
Whitehall is 8-10 overall, 8-6 in the WMC.
“Montague has a heckuva program and this rivalry is huge,” Aardema said. “For us to to this is just very nice, especially for our seniors.”
