Fourth quarter hurts Fruitport in non-league loss to Coopersville

Eight players scored for Fruitport but that wasn’t enough as Coopersville topped the Trojans 49-42 in non-conference boys basketball. The Broncos scored 23 points fourth quarter points to edge out Fruitport.

Fruitport took a 30-26 lead after the third quarter but couldn’t come up with stops in the fourth. The two teams were tied 23-23 at halftime.

Luke Brown led the Trojans with 11 points and Travis Grimm had six points, nine rebounds and four steals. Shawn Knox added seven points for Fruitport.

Coopersville was led by Joseph Dekkenga and Alec Wysocki who scored 18 points apiece.
