The host Calvin Christian Squires were deadly from outside on Tuesday night in whipping the Western Michigan Christian Warriors 63-40 in a nonleague boys basketball game.

The Squires hit four 3-pointers in the opening quarter and never let up. In all, the Squires made 13 shots from beyond the arc. Nine different players each hit at least one.

Calvin Christian led 16-10 after the first quarter and limited the visitors to just two free throws in the second quarter. The Squires led 30-12 at the half.

Bernard Smith was the lone Warrior (12-6) to reach double figures. He finished with 11 points and nine rebounds. Derrick Holt added eight points.

The Warriors were also plagued by poor free-throw shooting. In the first half, the Warriors made 2-of-9. For the game, they were 9-19.

Ben Kroeze finished with 12 points for the Squires (12-7).  Nate VanRyn added nine points. All 12 players scored at least two points.
