The Muskegon girls basketball team toyed with Grand Rapids Union for a little while on Friday before pulling away for a 72-27 victory in O-K Black Conference action.LSJ Logo incert

The Big Reds led 19-10 at the first buzzer, then outscored Union 53-17 over the final three quarters.

Madrieka Cook recorded a triple-double for the Big Reds with 21 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists. Andrea Pullman added 14 points.

MONA SHORES 65, KENOWA HILLS 25 – Mona Shores grabbed a season-high 45 team rebounds in the O-K Black victory. The Sailors were led by Alyza Winston with 19 points while Jordan Walker added 18 points, 12 rebounds and five steals.

FRUITPORT CALVARY CHRISTIAN 77, MUSKEGON HEIGHTS 19 – Fruitport Calvary Christian jumped out to a 28-5 lead and cruised past Muskegon Heights. Allyson Richards paced the Eagles (8-2) with 30 points and 10 rebounds while Hannah Roberts added 16 points, six steals and six assists.  The Tigers were led by Diamond Franklin with 13 points.

HOLTON 47, WHITE CLOUD 38 – Free throws were the difference for the Red Devils (5-5, 1-4). They made 14 of 15 in the second half to hold on to a lead they built early on. Brandi Taylor led Holton with 10 points while Courtney Slater chipped in eight points and 10 rebounds. The Indians were led by Hannah Brown with 13 points.

MORLEY-STANWOOD 55, KENT CITY 41 – Kent City was led in a losing effort by Meghan Boyd with 11 points while Kaitlyn Geers added 10 points. Mallory Raven scored 13 points for Morley-Stanwood.
