Girls soccer roundup: Mikesell’s 2 goals, assist propel Mona Shores over Holland

Mona Shores’ Sarah Mikesell had two goals and an assist, leading her squad to a 3-0 shutout victory at home over Holland.

Madison Blackwell and Megan Swanker split time in goal for Mona Shores.

MONTAGUE 3, RAVENNA 0Paige Swanson scored a pair of first-half goals and Kirsten Kelly added another, giving Montague the 3-0 West Michigan Conference victory over Ravenna.  Alex Nuttall, Sarah Weesies and Kate Hamann all had assists for the Wildcats.  Brooklyn Scheider and Courtney Gordon combined in goal for the shutout.

OAKRIDGE 2, SHELBY 0 — The Eagles blanked the Tigers in the West Michigan Conference opener for both teams. Summer Messerschmidt scored off an assist from Feli Werner to open the scoring. Oakridge (2-0-1 overall, 1-0 WMC) made it 2-0 on Andi Cartwright’s goal. It was assisted by Ugne Zubaviciute.

NORTH MUSKEGON 1, WHITEHALL 0Kendal Hoppa scored in the second half to give the Norse the conference victory. North Muskegon outshot the Vikings 11-8. Gus Keur made several key saves near the end of the contest to keep the Norse on top.
