The West Michigan Whitecaps blew a late lead on Thursday and fell 4-3 on the road to Lake County.

West Michigan held a 3-0 lead after two innings. Blaise Salter had an RBI double in the first inning, which scored Jacob Robso. Chad Sedio had an RBI triple in the second inning to score Anthony Pereira, then came in to score on an RBI single by Danny Woodrow.

Lake County scored in the fourth and seventh innings to trim the Whitecaps’ lead to 3-2, then took the lead for good when Emmanuel Tapia hit a two run home run in the eighth.

West Michigan was led by Woodrow with two hits. Relief pitcher Locke St. John took the loss, surrendering two runs in 1 1/3 innings.

West Michigan will continue its four-game series at Lake County on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
