The West Michigan Whitecaps pounded the Lansing Lugnuts 16-1 on Saturday in front of a sold out crowd of 9,665 at Fifth Third Ballpark.

West Michigan is 3-0 in the second half of the season and have won seven straight games. The Whitecaps are now 48-22 overall.

Anthony Pereira led West Michigan with four hits while Josh Lester and David Gonzalez each added three hits.

Austin Athmann drove in three runs for the Whitecaps while Danny Woodrow, Lester, Gonzalez, and Sam Machonis all had two RBIs each.

Starting pitcher Gregory Soto picked up the win to improve to 6-1 on the year, surrendering one run on two hits while striking out seven in six innings. Burris warner pitched the final three innings to pick up a save while surrendering one hit and striking out two.

West Michigan will close out its four game series with Lansing on Sunday at 1 p.m.
