Mona Shores and Reeths-Puffer fought through a pair of tight games and split their double header on Tuesday. 

The Rockets fought off the Sailors in Game 1, taking a 7-5 win through eight innings. Mona Shores responded in the nightcap with a 10-9 win.

Makenna Johnson hit an RBI single in the top of the eighth inning for Reeths-Puffer and MaKayla Thompson stole home to give the Rockets an insurance run.Johnson finished with two hits and two RBI while Brooklynn Duffey had two hits and an RBI for the Rockets.

Veronica Kastelic led Mona Shores with three his and an RBI while Ryleigh Wehler, Zoie Willeke and Erica Dakin each had two hits. Taylor Dew hit a 2-run home run for the Sailors.

Thompson was the winning pitcher, throwing all eight innings while striking out 13 for the Rockets.

In Game 2, the Sailors built a 10-3 lead through six innings and were led by Grace Hall’s two hits and four RBIs.

Mona Shores had five players collect multiple hits. Kastelic had three hits while Taylor Dew, Maddie Mettler and Ellery Rose each had two hits. Mettler hit a 2-run home run in the fifth inning.

Reeths-Puffer was led by Duffey with three hits and an RBI while Thompson had two hits and four RBI. Abigayle Michelson had a hit and two RBI and Avery Sheffer had two hits.

WEST MICHIGAN CONFERENCE

MONTAGUE 11-8, RAVENNA 1-7 – Taylor Maycroft tallied the lone hit for Ravenna in Game 1. Laney Mabrito had two hits including a solo home run for Ravenna in Game 2. Karly Hanson had two hits and Shelby Piper hit a solo homer.
