North Muskegon’s Aya Johnson saw her tournament run end Thursday afternoon in the 96th Michigan Women’s Amateur tournament.
Johnson lost to Mount Pleasant’s Natalie Brehm 5 and 3 in a quarterfinal match at Forest Akers Golf Course on the campus of Michigan State University.
Johnson, who will be a senior this fall, defeated Sarah Johnson of Wixom 2 and 1 in her Thursday morning match that earned her a spot in the afternoon match against No. 3-seeded Brehm.
Brehm advances into Friday’s semifinal match against No. 2 seeded Jacqueline Setas, a 2 and 1 winner over Bea Murray in another afternoon quarterfinal match.
