ALLENDALE – The Reeths-Puffer girls’ golf team finished seventh in the Sydney Carfine Memorial Golf Tournament on Saturday.

The tournament, hosted by Jenison High School, drew 18 teams to The Meadows on the campus of Grand Valley State University.

The Rockets finished with 383.

“It has been a long week with us playing four 18 hole events,” Rocket coach Matt Pallett said. “I challenged the team and I believe they responded well. The girls are looking forward to coming back to the Meadows on Tuesday to see if they can improve their scores.”

Senior Paige Anderson led the way for Reeths-Puffer with an 81. Her ninth-place finish earned her a spot on the all-tournament team.

“Paige continues to play well,” Pallett said “Our pace of play was not good today. I feel that really disrupted Paige’s rhythm today. She has played in three tournaments and has earned Top 10 medals in all three. The scary part for our competition is her best golf is yet to come.”

Freshman Sophie McCollumn shot an 88 and tied for 16th place, which earned her all-tournament status as well. Her round was highlighted by a 50-foot birdie putt on No. 3.

Junior Rowan Bluhm turned in another strong performance with a 94. She finished the round with a pair of birdies. Senior Abby Haak shot 120 and junior Avery Luna had a 130.

The Rockets return to The Meadows on Tuesday for the Forest Hills Central Invitational.
