A strong comeback and a balanced scoring attack sparked the Muskegon Community College Lady Jayhawks to a 53-52 basketball victory over Kellogg Community College.

The Bruins took an 11-point lead in the second half, but the Lady Jayhawks stepped it up on the defensive end in the game’s final minutes to grab the victory.

Sabri Carter-Latin led the balanced attack with 11 points. Sonnie Kurnat, Nicole Walsworth and Alex Torres scored 10 points each. Lindsey Burnside pulled down 13 rebounds.

“We played hard and with determination,” MCC assistant coach Sandra Bush said. “The Bruins had the ball in the last 18 seconds of the game with three opportunities to score but came up short.  Nikki Walsworth secured to rebound for a Jayhawk victory.”
