The Muskegon Lumberjacks’ road trip continued on Sunday and resulted in a 3-2 shootout loss to the Youngstown Phantoms.

Alfred Larsson gave the hosts a 1-0 lead in the opening period. Muskegon tied it in the second period on a goal by Cameron Darcy with assists being credited to Adam Gilmour and Fredrick Tiffels. It was Darcy’s seventh goal of the season.

Kyle Connor gave Youngstown its second one-goal lead of the game with a third-period goal.

However, with 5:50 remaining, Christian Heil connected on the power play to tie the game for Muskegon. Darcy and Rasmus Bengtsson assisted on the goal.

After a scoreless overtime period, the teams advanced into the shootout.

Youngstown received shootout goals from Sam Anas and Nathan Walker while Rasmus Bengtsson was the lone Lumberjack to connect in the shootout.

Muskegon goaltender Jordan Uhelski stopped 24-of-26 shots in 65 minutes of play.

Muskegon returns to action at 7 p.m. Friday in Ann Arbor against the Team USA U-18 team.
