Muskegon Community College had three of its five wrestlers advance into the NJCAA National Wrestling Tournament semifinals. MCC have five competing in the quarterfinals on Friday night.

The event is being held in Des Moines, Iowa.

Heavyweight Brett Martin, from Hesperia, Riley Boomer (174) and Steven Ruppert (141) all won their quarterfinal matches and are into the semifinal round. All three wrestlers are guaranteed All-American status.

Two other MCC wrestlers, Thomas Bolday (197) and Dillon Francisco (165) were defeated in quarterfinal matches.

Martin captured a 5-3 decision over Christop Keil from Iowa Central Community College. Martin faces Yaseen Mudasser from Nassau Community College in the semifinals.

Boomer advanced to the final four with a pin of John Bardon from Niagara County Community College. Boomer’s pin came at 1:32. He will face Trent Noon of Clackamas Community College in the semifinals.

Ruppert posted a 4-1 decision over Quinn Johnston of Southwest Oregon in the quarters. He will face Nassau Community College’s James DeKrone in the semifinals.

Bolday dropped an 8-2 decision to Shakheim Chapman of North Iowa Area Community College. Francisco was defeated 6-4 by Kris Schimek from Niagara County Community College.
