The Fruitport Trojans battled back from a late 3-1 deficit to claim Game 1 of a Lakes 8 doubleheader with Fremont. The final score was 7-3.
Fremont back back to win the nightcap, 8-5.
In the first game, the Trojans scored six runs in the top of the seventh inning. Brandon Lee hit an 0-2 curveball into left field that scored two runs and tied the game at 3-all. After an intentional walk to Kolin Lakatos, a passed ball scored another run. That was followed by a sacrifice fly by Mitchell Reyes and a two-run single by Justin Wierengo.
Travis Grimm picked up the win on the mound for Fruitport. He pitched seven innings and struck out two.
The nightcap was a whole different story as Fremont jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the fifth inning. Christian Wade was the winning pitcher for the Packers. He struck out seven, walked five and allowed five hits.
Austin Curtis suffered the loss on the mound for Fruitport. Reyes had two hits for the Trojans.
 Kaleb Housekamp, Blake Siersma and Jared Meeuwenberg had two hits a piece for Fremont.
