The Muskegon Catholic Central Crusaders survived in an 8-7 victory over Western Michigan Christian in a softball game on Wednesday.
Caroline Price was the winning pitcher for MCC. She allowed seven hits, five earned runs and struck out 11.
Anna Sweetman led WMC with three hits, including a triple, scored two runs and knocked in one run. Lorelle Hallenbeck had two hits and knocked in two runs.
Sweetman allowed five earned runs, three hits and six walks. She struck out six.
 “This was our best game of the year,” WMC coach Jeff Nestell said. “We played as a team, we put the ball in play and we made plays in the field.  We just came up one run short.  I’m proud of how the girls played and how they played hard, right up to the final out.”
