North Muskegon swept a nonconference doubleheader from Hesperia on Monday.

North Muskegon picked up the school’s 700th victory in Game 1, a 5-2 win, and then swept the Panthers with a 6-5 victory in the nightcap.

In the opener, Reese McCamant scattered eight hits in pitching the complete-game victory for the Norse, who now have a 701-718-5 record in the 78 years of baseball at the school.

Adrian Anderson paced NM offensively with a solo home run and a single. Adam Edick had a double and a single while Ryan Compeau and Travis Webster each had two singles. Webster also scored twice, and Jack Gautraud added a triple.

NM used a four-run fourth inning to take a 5-3 lead in the nightcap.

Hesperia scored solo runs in the fifth and sixth innings while NM scored one run in the fifth inning for the final margin.

Sophomore Riley Draper, making his first varsity start, picked up the win on the mound with Compeau gaining the save.

Anderson led the offense with a double, a single, two runs and two RBI.

NM, which has a 12-5 overall record, 7-1 in the West Michigan Conference, travels to league-leading Montague (8-0 in WMC) for a doubleheader on Tuesday.
