Tigers 7, Twins 1 – The Tigers completed a three game sweep of the Twins Thursday evening,, outscoring Minnesota 22-1 throughout the series. They set a modern-day American League record by starting the season with 24 consecutive shutout innings.

Detroit gained a point in the standings by forcing overtime while the Boston Bruins fell in regulation to give the Wings the playoff spot.
