An otherwise great regular season ended on a sour note for the Muskegon Lumberjacks.
Now the real test begins with next week’s playoffs.
The Jacks ended their regular season Saturday with a 4-1 loss to the host Madison Capitols.
They finished with a 35-21-4 record, good for 74 points and fourth place in the USHL’s Eastern Conference.
The Lumberjacks will open the playoffs Wednesday at home against Youngstown.
Madison jumped out to a 3-0 lead with a goal from Luke McElhenie in the first period and a pair of goals from Charlie Gerard in the second.
Muskegon’s Griffen Molino broke the shutout with a goal at 14:36 of the second period, with an assist from Corey Schueneman.
Robby Fosdick capped the scoring for Madison with a third period goal.
