Quinn Koomen pitched a two-hit shutout in the Kent City baseball team’s 3-0 win over Kellogsville on Wednesday. The junior pitcher struck out 11 in his first start of the season.

Kent City held a 2-0 lead into the sixth inning when Kelloggsville broke the Koomen no-hitter and loaded the bases. Rightfielder Austin Ford came through with a clutch catch to get the Eagles out of the inning.

The Eagles (2-2) found runs in the first, fifth and seventh innings. Randy Thompson and Luke O’Keefe each posted two hits and one RBI. Luke Scheuneman had a hit, an RBI and scored a run while Koomen and Colton Atwood both had hits and scored runs.
