Detroit sports glance: Pistons fail to hold lead against Clippers; Abdelkader scores lone goal in Red Wing loss

Clippers 101, Pistons 96 – Blake Griffin and Jamal Crawford combined for 71 points for the Los Angeles Clippers in Saturday afternoon’s victory over the Detroit Pistons.

LSJ Logo incertThe Pistons led by as many as 17 points before the Clippers mounted a comeback during the second half.

Andre Drummond continued his streak of double-doubles with 18 points and 19 rebounds, while Reggie Jackson and Ersan Ilyasova led the Pistons with 20 points each.

Detroit will stay in Los Angeles to play the Lakers on Sunday night, looking to snap its three-game losing streak.

Bruins 3, Red Wings 1- The Boston Bruins scored three second period goals in Saturday’s win over the Detroit Red Wings.

Muskegon native Justin Abdelkader broke his 14 game scoring drought, scoring Detroit’s lone goal.

Detroit’s goaltender Petr Mrazek took the loss, he stopped 28 of 31 shots.

The Red Wings are now 8-8-1 on the season, good for 17 points and a fourth place tie in the Atlantic Division.

Detroit will head to Canada on Monday night to take on the Ottawa Senators, looking to snap its two-game slide.
