The Jayhawks, in second place in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association’s Western Conference, improved to 18-4 overall and 8-2 in league play.

MCC trailed 10-2 in the opening minutes of the contest, but then rallied and built a 49-26 halftime lead. Aaron Sydnor scored 15 of his 19 points in the first half, making 11 of 11 free-throw attempts.

GRCC never got closer than 18 points in the second half. Eddie Tornes scored 18 of his game-high 22 points after halftime.

Mike Williams had 13 points while Marcus Tumblin added 12 for MCC.

“I am just very, very pleased with the way we played today,” said MCC Coach Dave Schump. “Especially in the second half because we didn’t let up and we were able to extend the lead. It was a good team win that everybody contributed to.”
