The Muskegon Community College baseball team had the bats booming in a 13-5 victory over Ancilla College Tuesday in the first game of a doubleheader.lsj-fb-logo

The bats went quiet in the second game, but the pitching was strong, helping the Jayhawks complete the sweep with a 3-1 victory.

MCC improved to 14-15 overall and 7-5 in conference play.

MCC rolled up 20 hits in Game 1. Leading the offense were Kolbe Peller (3-for-5 with two doubles) and Robert Spencer (two doubles, three runs scored). Six other players had two hits apiece.

Pitcher Rhett Holwerda (1-4) scattered nine hits over six innings to collect the win.

In the nightcap, pitcher Brian Erndteman tossed a six-hitter over six innings with six strikeouts. Reliever Jacob Boes finished the game to earn his second save of the season.

Hitting leaders for MCC were Hayden Modaff (2-for-3 with two RBIs) and Colin McClelland (1-for-3 with a double).
