Reiko Johnson had quite the day on Tuesday. Earlier in the day, she signed a national letter-of-intent to play Division 3 college basketball at New York University.  

Then she led the Spring Lake varsity girls basketball team to a dominating 65-16 non-conference victory over Montague. Johnson, the Lakers’ point guard, had 22 points and 10 assists in the victory.

Fellow Laker Medeline Zenas also recorded a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds, while Jenna Core and Linsey Paggeot each had 10 points.

Spring Lake improves to 9-5 overall and remains 5-1 in conference play.

FRUITPORT 52, MUSKEGON CATHOLIC 27 – The Trojans rode a strong defensive performance to their fifth win of the season, holding Muskegon Catholic Central (5-8, 2-4) to just nine points in the first half. Fruitport (5-8, 2-4) was led by Iyana Brown with 17 points, while Emily Winicki chipped in 10. The Crusaders were paced by Talia Tyler with 12 points and Zoie Price added eight rebounds.

GODWIN HEIGHTS 62, MUSKEGON HEIGHTS 55 – The Tigers grabbed a 49-48 lead midway through the third quarter but fell to foul trouble and solid Godwin Heights free throw shooting. Jakayla Anderson led all scores with 25 points along with 12 rebounds and three steals for Muskegon Heights. Danasia Day added 11 points, Rhayshanique Anderson had nine points and Juliana Clark chipped in six points. Mya Jordan led Godwin Heights with 17 points, 15 coming in the second half.

HOWARD TRI COUNTY 55, ORCHARD VIEW 22 – Janaya Ferrell led Orchard View (0-11, 0-2) with 12 points in the non-conference loss Tuesday night.
