The Muskegon Catholic baseball team downed Mona Shores 8-1 on Saturday, in a three-team tournament involving the Crusaders, Sailors and Traverse City St. Francis.

Devin Comes pitched the win for the Crusaders, scattering four hits and striking out four.

MCC broke the game open with three runs in both the fourth and sixth innings. Josh Huston had 3 hits for MCC, while Avery Davis and Bobby Ahern each had 2 RBIs. Conner Belanger had two hits for Mona Shores.

The Crusaders lost to St. Francis 4-1 to finish 1-1 on the day. Riley St. Amour was the hard-luck loser for MCC, allowing only one earned run and six hits while striking out four against state-ranked St. Francis.

Mona Shores beat St. Francis 2-0 behind a complete-game shutout by Belanger. He allowed four hits and struck out five. Austin Flowers knocked in both Sailor runs with a single in the fifth inning.
