The Whitehall and Shelby baseball teams split a doubleheader on Tuesday, with Whitehall winning the opener 3-2 and Shelby bouncing back with a 4-2 victory in Game 2.

Whitehall scored the winning run of the opening game in the top of the seventh inning. Ethan Schaeffer led the Vikings with two hits. Matt Felt and Kristian Oberlin paced Shelby with two hits apiece.

In Game 2, Shelby scored two runs in the top of the eighth inning, on a bases-loaded walk and a wild pitch, to secure the victory. Cody DeVries pitched the win for the Tigers while Jonah Kelley and Simon Payne each had three hits to lead the offense.

Whitehall was led by Schaffer and Casey Huizenga, who each had two hits.

Whitehall is now 5-7 overall and 3-3 in league play, while Shelby sits at 10-6 overall and 3-3 in the conference.
