Senior quarterback La’darius Jefferson had a big day for the Muskegon Big Reds on a long road trip on Saturday.
The Big Reds avenged their 2016 loss to Lincolnshire Stevenson, an Illinois squad, with a 28-7 victory.
Both teams exchanged touchdowns in each of their first possessions, and the game was tied 7-7 after the first quarter.
Muskegon took a 14-7 lead at halftime, led 21-7 after three quarters and closed out the scoring with the lone touchdown in the fourth quarter.
The Big Reds were paced offensively by Jefferson with 218 rushing yards on 27 carries and two touchdowns while Davion McCall had 130 yards on six attempts and one score. Clinton Jefferson Jr. also rushed for 51 yards and a touchdown.
Ali’Vonta Wallace led the Big Red defense with 10 tackles while Clinton Jefferson Jr. added six.
The Big Reds, who improved their record to 2-0 on the season, will host Fruitport in their O-K Black Conference opener on Friday.
