Fruitport dropped a close O-K Black Conference game Friday night against Kenowa Hills, falling 38-36.

Despite Kenowa striking first, Fruitport bounced back with a one yard touchdown run from Jerod Arvey to tie the game at 7-7.

After another Kenowa score, Cole Hoffman tied the game at 14-all after converting a 60 yard touchdown reception from Jakob Carlisle, finishing the first quarter’s scoring.

The second quarter was more of the same. Fruitport got on the board first off of a 25 yard touchdown pass from Carlise to Crue Cooper. Later in the quarter, Ethan Flores rushed for a 25 yard touchdown. Kenowa Hills responded to both touchdowns as the Trojans maintained their advantage at the half, 28-26.

In the second half, Kenowa Hills outscored the the Trojans 12-8. Their only score of the half came off a 12 yard pass from Carlisle to Cooper, finishing up the night’s scoring.

Carlisle finished the game 11-of-22 passing for 175 yards and Flores had 32 yards on four carries.

On defense, David Ross led the Trojans with 13 tackles.

Fruitport falls to 1-5 on the season. They host Reeths-Puffer next Friday.
