The Ludington boys soccer team continued its effort to return to the state finals by beating Big Rapids 5-0 on Saturday in a Division 3 district championship game on its own field.

The Orioles, now 17-4-3 on the season, will meet Elk Rapids at 6 p.m. on Wednesday in the first round of regionals. Ludington advanced all the way to the state finals last year, before losing to Flint Powers.

Brayden Porter led Ludington with two goals, while Will Flewelling, Nathan Palmer and Steven Darby also found the net. Porter, Jared Ruba, Connor Schummer, Noah Peterson and John Biggs collected assists.

Goalkeeper Maxine Grenier registered the shutout for the Orioles.
