Fruitport girls basketball team will play for district title after running past OV 60-18

The Fruitport girls basketball team punched its ticket to the Division 2 district finals with a decisive 60-18 victory over Orchard View in the semifinals on Wednesday at Whitehall High School.

The Trojans took control early with a 15-4 lead after one quarter and a 25-8 advantage at halftime. They sealed the deal with a 23-point third quarter and led 48-16 going into the fourth.

All 10 players on the Fruitport roster scored in the game, led by Sydney Bol with 19 points and six steals. Ellie Fisher added 11 points and 11 rebounds and Emily Dirkse collected nine points and five steals.

The Trojans will battle Oakridge on Friday at 7 p.m. in the district championship game at Whitehall. The winner will advance to next week’s regionals.
