The West Michigan Whitecaps dropped their second straight game with a 6-5 matinee loss at Lansing on Tuesday.

In the top of the first inning, Christopher Proctor singled home Reece Hampton to give the Whitecaps a 1-0 lead.

The lead didn’t hold long as Lansing scored three runs of its own in the home half of the inning, giving the Whitecaps a 3-1 deficit.

John Valente hit a sacrifice fly in the top of the second inning that scored Jeremiah Burks, making the score 3-2 in favor of Lansing.

Lansing once again responded however, scoring two runs in the bottom of the second, making the score 5-2.

Lansing then added an insurance run in the sixth inning, making the score 6-2

In the top of the seventh Jordan Pearce singled home Burks, Ulrich Bojarski singled home Valente and Pearce scored on an Avery Tuck walk making the score 6-5 which was ultimately the final.

The Whitecaps are now 16-20 overall and will continue their series at Lansing on Wednesday with first pitch scheduled for 10:35 a.m.
