The Mason County Central football team earned its first win of the season, defeating Shelby 55-0 in a West Michigan Conference game on Friday.

The Spartans wasted no time, jumping out to a 21-0 first quarter lead on rushing touchdowns by Khole Hoffmann from three and four yards out, respectively, as well as a 46-yard sprint from Xander Gajeski.

Hoffmann scored his third touchdown of the night in a big way in the second quarter with a 94-yard dash to the end zone.

Mason County Central then had its only completed pass of the night, which was a 42-yard touchdown from Ethan Johnson to make the halftime score 35-0.

The Spartans scored the lone third quarter touchdown from 66 yards out by Gajeski to increase their lead to 42-0. 

Gajeski added his third touchdown of the night in the fourth quarter on a 70-yard interception return.

Riley Mclouth closed out scoring for Mason County Central with a 29-yard touchdown run.

Hoffmann led the Spartan offense, racking up 230 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries, while Gajeski added 118 yards and two touchdowns on six carries.

Raiden Keefer paced Mason County Central defensively with seven tackles while Hoffmann and Jackson Kimes added five.

The Spartans are now 1-2 on the season and will face Whitehall next week, while Shelby is 0-3 on the year and will take on Montague next Friday.
