The Grand Haven volleyball squad posted a 1-1 record on Wednesday falling to Rockford (24-26, 13-25, 25-22 and 22-25) in four set, then defeating West Ottawa in three straight sets (25-19, 25-13 and 25-13).

Mackenzie Gross led the Bucs with 38 kills and five aces while Ashlyn Pahl added 17 kills. Samantha Boeve had 76 assists on the night.

Grand Haven was paced defensively by Mia Swierbut with 33 digs followed by Hallie Rittel and Boeve with 18 apiece.

The Buccaneers are now 18-14 overall on the season.

KENT CITY 3, HOLTON 0- Erica Bulla had 10 kills to help propel the Eagles to a win over the Holton in three straight sets on Wednesday.

Kent City won by service scores of 25-10, 25-10 and 25-7 to improve to 17-3-1 overall and 7-1 in the conference play.

The Eagles were also led by Jasmine Weeks with eight aces, while Jenna Harrison added 14 assists followed by Kaila Krueger with seven. Harrison had 11 digs to pace Kent City defensively.

The Red Devils were led by Layna Cartwright with three kills while Abbie Fowler had seven assists. Kennedy Greene chipped in with seven digs.
