The Western Michigan Christian volleyball team took home the Lakes 8 Conference championship on Saturdy.

The Warriors finished first in the regular season and defeated both Orchard View and Ludingotn on Saturday in tournament play.

Kyla Wiersema led the Warriors with 18 kills and 30 digs while Alisha Leffring totaled 17 kills and four aces. Kendal Young had 65 assists on the day.

Hesperia Goes Unbeaten – The Hesperia volleyball team went 3-0 on Saturday in the Lori Vargas Volley against Violence event.

Hesperia defeated Newaygo, Tri County and Shelby in the event.

Emily Bayle and Rachel Romero led the team with 24 kills each while Caity Frees led Hesperia with five blocks.

Kyra Sayer finished with 38 assists while Bayle totaled 28 digs.

Fruitport Calvary Takes Second – The Fruitport Calvary Christian volleyball team finished second in Alliance Conference Gold Bracket tournament play on Saturday.

Fruitport Calvary defeated Tri Unity but lost to Potter’s House in the finals 25-23, 24-26, 25-16.

Emmalee Dykman led the team with 24 kills and six aces while Meghan Johnson totaled 22 digs.

Muskegon Catholic Goes 1-1 – The Muskegon Catholic volleyball team went 1-1 on Saturday in the Lakes 8 volleyball tournament.

The Crusaders defeated Orchard View in straight sets but fell to Ludington in the conference semifinals 25-9, 20-25, 25-9 and 25-16.

Erin LaVigne led Muskeogn Catholic with 17 kills and 19 digs while Alena Martin totaled 12 kills and three aces.

Emma Maierhauser finished with 19 digs on the day while Claire LaVigne totaled 52 assists.

Orchard View Finishes Fourth – The Orchard View volleyball team went 1-2 on Saturday in the Lakes 8 conference tournament to finish fourth overall.

The Cardinals defeated Manistee but fell to Western Michigan Christian and Muskegon Catholic Central.

Kaelyn McNarland totaled 22 digs, 12 kills and six aces for Orchard View while Aleya Jones had 27 digs, 12 assists and nine kills.

Meghan TenHove finished with 26 assists, 10 kills, 10 digs and five aces.

Ludington Finishes Second – The Ludington volleyball team defeated Muskegon Catholic on Saturday but fell to Western Michigan Christian in the conference tournament finals.

Sophia Cooney totaled 23 digs for the Orioles while Elena Vaara led with 17 kills.

Karli Mesyar totaled 40 assists, 22 digs and three aces for Ludington.

Kent City 3, Cedar Springs 0 – The Kent City volleyball team picked up a non-conference victory on Saturday, winning 25-18, 25-23 and 25-20.

Erica Bull led with 23 kills while Jenna Harrison totaled 59 assists for the Eagles.

Kaila Krueger finished with 34 digs for Kent City while Jasmine Weeks had 13 aces.
