The Hart Pirates girls cross country team made it five straight state titles on Saturday in the Division 3 state finals.
The Pirates captured the title on the strength of its top runners finishing second, third and fourth and finished with 143 points. Kent City was the runner-up with 179 points.
The state finals were run at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn.
Sophomore Alyson Enns finished second for Hart with a time of 17:59.67. Freshman Jessica Jazwinski was third in 18:00.59 and senior Audrianna Enns was fourth in 18:32.27.
Hart’s final two runners were Lexie Beth Nienhuis, who finished in 23rd place with a time of 19:36.65 and Abigail Pretty, a junior, came in 111th in a time of 21:47.49.
Kent City’s top finisher was freshman Lila Volkers, who finished 12th in a time of 18:54.64. The next Eagle runners was 27th in Alyeska Linsley, who turned in a time of 19:45.59. The third Kent City runner was Kierra Flegel, whose 19:59.23 was good for 36th place. In 51st place was Isabella Max with a time of 20:23.81. The final runner who figured in the scoring for Kent City was Grace Houtman, a sophomore, who finished in 20:31.23.
In the individual portion of the race, North Muskegon had two runners. Gabriella Wingard, a senior, was 39th in 19:50.07 and Carolyn Bennett was 70th with a time of 20:30.21.
Shelby’s participant was Emma Soelberg, who came in 67th in a time of 20:22.27.
