Mason County Eastern’s boys cross country team finished 10th at the Division 4 state final on Saturday at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn on Saturday.

The Cardinals were hoping for a podium finish, but the competition was extremely stiff with Hillsdale winning the title and Concord taking second.

Eastern scored 308 points for the 10th spot. Western Michigan Christian finished 14th with 358.

For the Cardinals they’re highest finisher came in 20th in the person of Nate Wing in 17:10.59.

Also placing for the Cardinals were senior Eli Shoup 22nd in 17:17.91, followed by sophomore Peter Hybza 55th in 18:15.76, sophomore Dakota Matzen 103rd in 19:13.33, sophomore Clay Shoup 108th in 19:15.30, senior Keeton Capling 146th in 20:35.01 and freshman Henry Malburg 166th in 22:08.25.

Leading the way for the Warriors was junior Jonathan Clausing 49th in 18:10.27, freshman Matthias Morse 52nd in 18:11.91, sophomore Graeson Lawrence 72nd in 18:35.70, sophomore Danny Maat 74th in 18:38.27, freshman Demitri Lawrence 111th in 19:22.39, freshman Alexander Lawrence 117th in 19:30.79 and sophomore Elija Zenz 135th in 20:15.59.

Individual finishers included Pentwater sophomore Mitchel Daniels 86th in 18:11.14 and teammate sophomore Abe VanDuinen 99th in 18:21.35.
