Grant downs Fremont in four games to claim a Class B district volleyball crown

Grant captured a Class B district volleyball title with a 3-1 win over Fremont on Thursday.

After winning the opening game 25-22, the Tigers lost 25-23 in the second game, then clinched the match and the championship with 25-17 and 25-14 victories.

Grant advances to next week’s regionals.

Dayna Wood led Grant with 18 kills, 10 digs, three blocks and two aces. Sierra Schuitema had 39 assists, 25 digs and one block, Laura Bouwkamp had nine kills, six digs and two blocks while Emily Gabrielse had 23 digs, three assists and one kill. Hannah Anderson contributed four blocks for the Tigers.

Fremont’s Katie Parkhurst had 30 assists and two aces, Makalah Mongar had 23 digs while Lexie Bradley had 10 kills and two blocks.
