Volleyball district championship action starts up in MHSAA state tournament (MATCHUPS/GAME TIMES)!

The MHSAA state volleyball tournament kicks off today around the state of Michigan.

Teams from around west Michigan will be “setting up” in district tournaments and fighting for a coveted state championship.

Fruitport was the last area team to win a state title back in 2011 and 2010 when it won the Class B championship in back-to-back seasons under current coach, Nicole Bayle. The Trojans also won it all in Class B in 2005 under then coach, Dan Potts.

North Muskegon and Holton are two other area teams to win state titles. The Norse won a Class C state title in 2005 when Dan Rawles was leading the charge. In 1994, Holton captured the Class C state championship under Coach Ed Bailey.

The following is the schedule for area teams participating in district tournaments.
