Finally notching their first O-K Blue Conference win on Friday night, the Fruitport boys basketball team topped the Allendale Falcons 65-50 at home.

It has been hard for the Trojans to find their rhythm in the highly competitive conference. With a win, it hopefully gives the squad some sense of relief.

“Winning in this conference has obviously proven to be difficult for us since joining last year,” said Coach Steve Erny. “It feels good to get the monkey off our back. Allendale didn’t shoot particularly well for their standards, so on a different night this game could have gone differently, but we earned this one.”

Multiple guys got in on the action for the Trojans and contributed to the win with four players recording double figures.

With a perfect 5-5 from the line down the stretch ,Paschal Jolman played hard for the Trojans posting a double-double with 17 points, 12 rebounds and four steals. Andrew Spyke added 11 points and pulled down nine rebounds.

Ryan Laus and Gavin Reames threw in 10 points and eight points, respectively for the Trojans.

Fruitport moves to 5-7 for the season and breaks its losing steak in the league to improve to 1-6 in the conference. The Trojans will be at home on Friday to host their cross-town rival the Spring Lake Lakers.
