Mona Shores wrestling splits at Mark Boss Memorial

The Mona Shores wrestling team ended its Wednesday night with a 1-1 split against Allendale and Grand Rapids Union at Spring Lake’s Mark Bosse Memorial Tournament.

The Sailors struggled in their matchup with Allendale only managing two wins to drop the match 66-9. Making up for the loss, the Sailors took down Grand Rapids Union 57-24.

Going a perfect 2-0 on the night for the Sailors was Anthony Cage at 125 pounds and Gavyn Stout at 145 pounds.

Several wrestlers also contributed wins against Union.

Amari Thomas won his class at 119 pounds, Gavin Claycomb at 130 pounds, David Wilson at 140 pounds, Eric Davidson at 152 pounds, Jake Moll at 160 pounds, Kameron McGinley at 171 pounds, Emilio Martinez at 189 pounds and Ezra Purple winning at 215 pounds.

Mona Shores will be back to action this weekend as they host Fruitport, Montague, Muskegon, Reeths-Puffer and Whitehall for a GMAA meet on Saturday.
