FRUITPORT–The Fruitport Calvary Christian girls basketball team cruised by the Hesperia Panthers on Thursday evening by a final score of 47-24 in a non-conference battle at Calvary Christian high school.

Calvary Christians’ Nora Pollock posted a triple-double on the night and moved past Hannah Roberts for the school’s single-season steal record with 106.

The Eagles jumped out to a 14-2 lead after the first eight minutes of action.

Both teams struggled offensively in the second stanza as Calvary Christian went into the halftime intermission with a 22-6 lead outscoring Hesperia 8-4 in the period.

Both teams picked up the offensive tempo in the third quarter as the Eagles racked up a 16-11 scoring edge to take a commanding 38-17 lead into the fourth quarter.

Calvary Christian maintained a comfortable lead during the final eight minutes outscoring the Panthers 9-7 to secure the 17-point victory.

Pollock scored 14 points, had 11 steals and 10 rebounds while McKena Wilson also netted 14 points to go with dishing out five assists and coming up with four steals.

Cate Anhalt also hit for double digits scoing 10 points, while grabbing seven rebounds and snagging three steals.

Emma Joppich led the Hesperia offensive attack with a team high 13 points while hauling down 18 rebounds. Emmet Pinkham grabbed 10 rebounds.

Fruitport Calvary Christian improves to 13-5 overall and 6-1 in the Alliance League. The Eagles will host Mason County Central on Friday evening.

Hesperia falls to 2-14 with a winless 0-9 record in the CSAA-Silver and is set to play host to Holton on Friday evening.
