CARSON CITY — Hesperia’s wrestling team had a big day at the Divsion 4 individual district at Carson City on Saturday, with five wrestlers made it to the regional, while Ravenna advanced five and Holton three.

A trio of Panthers came away with district titles.

River Roberson battled his way through the 135-pound class to bring home top honors, putting Nathan Buzanowski of Farwell on his back in the final for a pin fall in 1:24.

Brandon Quinn emerged as the champion at 145, also winning winning his championship match by a pin in 3:35 over Martine Wiggins of St. Louis.

Alex Sayer came away with the championship at 112 pounds, defeating Seth Onweller of Beaverton by a 6-1 decision in the final.

Hesperia also qualified Stephen Priese, who finished fourth at 103 pounds and freshman Skylar Stalbaum at 130 pounds who also finished fourth.

The Holton Red Devils had two wrestlers in the finals of their respective weight classes, Cameron Edgerton at 140 and Rice Robbins at 160.

Edgerton lost by a pin in 3:03 to Joseph Dawe of Ithaca, while Robbins dropped a 15-6 decision to Bryce Stanley of Carson City.

Although both finished runnerups, they qualified to compete at the regional and kept alive their hopes of winning a state championship.

Holton also had Tony Baker qualify for the regional with a third place finish at 119 pounds.

Ravenna’s Bulldogs had Norman Slade reach the championship match at 125 pounds, where he lost to Landon Zastrow of Hemlock by a fall in 3:43.Brenden Forsythe also finished runnerup at 215, losing by a fall in 1:09 to Ben Dousuah of St. Louis.

The Bulldogs also pushed through three  others, Zeke Thompson who was third at 160 , Juan Castillo, fourth at 189. and junior 285-pounder Landen Goerbig made it through to regional competition with a fourth place finish.
